Carol and I go way back. I mean, waaaay back. We first met when we were five. She was the girl with the pretty blonde hair, those super cool barrettes with the ribbons (any child of the late 70’s early 80’s remembers these!!) and a pair of wooden clogs that I coveted. I wanted those shoes. Think the Wicked Witch of the West as she drools over the ruby slippers. Her mom was our Brownie leader and we played Strawberry Shortcake dolls on the floor of her bedroom. Then I changed schools and our paths didn’t cross for many, many years. Fast forward many, many, many (ahem, well not that many) years later and our paths have crossed again. Funny thing about life is our paths were actually crossing before we even knew it. Turns out our husbands knew one another when they were young, crazy racecar drivers. Who knew! So, when Carol contacted me last winter to photograph her two beautiful (blonde just like their mama) children, I jumped at the chance. It was as if all those years disappeared. However, instead of playing dolls, we were now sharing stories of our real life babies. This fall I had the pleasure of photographing the entire family, including their first baby, Murphy. Seeing Carol’s family in action was more than awesome. It’s easy to see how much they all adore each other. The nice things about this family is they know how blessed they are and share that with others. I love when this all spills over into the photographs. That is what makes my job so amazing! Carol, Dean, Mattie, Emily and of course Murphy, thank you all for letting me into your family for the day. I truly hope our paths continue to cross again through out life!
